The Italian financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore has dedicated an article to the upcoming recognition of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for coral and cameo from Torre del Greco — an initiative launched by Assocoral and now led by the Consorzio Corallo e Cammeo Torrese, with the full support of the Campania Goldsmith District (D.OR).
The article highlights how, one year after the establishment of the D.OR, the PGI project has become one of the most significant initiatives to protect and promote the artisanal excellence of our territory. The goal is to safeguard two centuries-old crafts — coral working and cameo engraving — that embody the artistic mastery and identity of Torre del Greco.
This national recognition confirms the importance of the collaborative work between Assocoral, the Consorzio, and the Campania Goldsmith District in giving new visibility and European identity to a unique cultural and manufacturing heritage.
